Key Witness in Duterte's Drug War Detained in San Francisco

How the Ministry of Justice (DOJ) informs that a key witness in the drug war with the drug cartels of the Duterte administration has been arrested. According to official reports, on November 7 in San Francisco, California, a police sergeant named Raina Garma and her daughter Angelika were detained due to expired visas.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Johnnic Remulla, stated that the reason for the arrest was the expired visas. According to him, Garma is not accused of any crimes and should only be detained on home territory.

Secretary of Justice Jesus Crispin Remulla directed the Commissioner of Immigration Joel Villanueva to expedite Garma's return to the country. It is expected that Garma will leave the USA in mid.

DOJ has created a working group to identify foreign cases associated with the drug war by former President Rodrigo Duterte. At the committee hearing, Garma stated that for murders during the war against drug cartels, rewards were offered. Following cooperation with the investigation, she was recently deported from the territory of Palawan.

According to governmental bodies, in the war on drugs, there are 6,000 foreign cases; however, human rights organizations claim that there are over 20,000 casualties. Garma is considered a state witness.
